For my Christmas gift to Jeff this year, I got him a pound of reindeer meat! The inspiration came because he loves to try different "exotic" meats. He's already sampled python (birthday gift) and alligator (anniversary gift).
This time I found a (supposedly) authentic Norwegian reindeer recipe on the web that was quite simple to prepare. You just slice the meat as thinly as possible, saute it in butter and salt. Then you lay it on top of a mound of mashed potatoes with sliced almonds. Around the perimeter, you put lingonberry jam. Here's the result:
Nia proclaimed, "This is my favoritest food ever!" Jeff liked it too. My opinion? Tastes very similar to lamb, just a little more tender.
