Berkeley and Uncle Bob's 70th

Saturday afternoon saw us Chious wandering about downtown Berkeley. Our first stop was to the venerable Cheese Board Coop. We sampled cheeses from around the world before finally picking out some Dutch Havarti, Italian fresh mozarella and local cheese made from sheep's milk.

Nia and Taryn loved the cheese shop -- or rather, they loved running around and creating havoc in the crowded cheese shop!!!! They weren't too fond of the samples since most of the cheeses had a strong taste. Eventually, I shooed them out the shop to run around outside while Daddy paid for our cheese.
One quick photo in front of the counter! The counter, which wraps around about a quarter of a circle, takes up almost the whole store.
We went to the ground floor of the building across the street which has a small selection of food stalls. I visited this choclatier (Alegio) where I bought a miniscule bonbon for $2. It was tasty!
Afterwards, Jeff went off to Uncle Bob's 70th birthday party dinner. He said they brought out about 9 or 10 rounds of dishes followed by a spectacular cake! Here's his photo of the event.
But since it was getting late, the kids and I skipped the dinner and instead walked about a mile to the downtown BART. I got the kids to bed only 20 minutes late (8:20pm).
