Nia the Outstanding Student!

Grandad came around to the house promptly at 7:15am to help escort little Nia to accept her "Outstanding Student" award! Taryn also came along to watch her big sis be honored. Here's a shot of Nia in front of the assembly holding her award. The principal, Mr La Rue, is to the left. He shook each child's hand and gave them a special congratulations. Nia's teacher, Mrs. Vera, is the woman with the white shirt to her right.

 She appeared a bit rattled when she was standing in front of her crowd of peers! Afterwards they pulled the kids aside for the parent paparazzi. The school photographer also takes a picture and posts the portrait in a glass display case at the front of the school.

Aside from the paper certificate, they also got a special snack as a reward -- apple juice and gummies! Nia's favorite...

I video-taped the event on our "real" camcorder, but now I have to try to find the manual to figure out how to translate the tapes to digital files. So don't hold your breath...
